Journalism 2

Matt Cobel

I am a member of Logan High School’s class of 2020. I am the Editor in Chief for The Chieftain. I have been on staff for six years. I like spending my time painting and creating art, reading, and watching movies of any kind. I joined the newspaper staff because I love writing and journalism is one of my favorite subjects. I plan on going to Ohio University to study Journalism, and I hope to one day become an editor for a publishing company or a magazine. During the school year, I love to write for The Chieftain, run for the cross country team, and play tennis. I can’t wait to see The Chieftain thrive this year and thanks to everyone who helps support and make the newspaper possible.

Kaitlyn Ellison

My name is Kaitlyn Ellison, and I am a member of Logan High School’s class of 2020. I am the editor for all opinion and editorial articles in the newspaper. In my free time, I like to hang out with friends, play with puppies and watch Netflix. I first joined journalism six years ago. I  orginally entered because I loved writing and have followed it ever since. One of my main goals is to graduate high school and go to college to receive a degree in education. I wish to then become an elementary school teacher somewhere in Ohio.

Brianna Hammond

I am a member of the 2021 class of Logan High School. I have been on The Chieftain journalism staff for three years. I work as a writer and feature editor for The Chieftain newspaper. In my free time, I like to eat and binge-watch It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia or listen to music. I also enjoy drawing and coloring. I joined journalism because I enjoy writing about topics I am interested in. My goal for the future is to eventually go to college or something and later on move somewhere that is not Logan, Ohio.

Haylee Leasure

I’m Haylee Leasure and I’m a member of Logan High School’s class of 2022. I’ve been on the staff for 3 years. Some of my hobbies are painting, writing, and playing online games. I would consider myself very organized and I enjoy keeping everything on track. I enjoy writing for the newspaper. I appreciate everyone who supports The Chieftain and all the writers and editors.

Savannah Miller

I am Savannah Miller and I’m a member of Logan High School’s class of 2022. I have been in journalism two full years and I am continuing my third. In my free time, I participate in school and competitive cheerleading. I joined journalism because I have a huge love for writing and I thought maybe this would help lead into a career one day. I would like to go to college and get a degree to become an accountant.

Jaelyn Williams

I am a member of the Logan High School class of 2022. This is my second year of journalism. I spend my free time hanging out with my friends. I frequently take small trips up to Lancaster and Columbus with my friends. I joined the journalism class because my English teacher in eighth grade said I might like writing for the school newspaper. My goals for the future are to be a dermatologist and go to a good college.

Laura Calhoun

My name is Laura Calhoun and I am a freshman at Logan High School. This is my second year being in journalism. In my free time, I enjoy painting, doing activities with my church, babysitting, and talking on the phone. I go up to Columbus frequently since that’s where my church is and I have amazing friends there too. I joined journalism because I love to write and I wanted to be more involved. I love kids and my goal is to become an elementary school teacher or a french teacher.

Hannah Davis

My name is Hannah Davis and I am in Logan High School’s class of 2023. This is my first year of journalism, and I am excited to get started in the class and see how well The Chieftain will sell. In my free time I like to play volleyball with my friends, watch Netflix, and relax with my dog and cat. After I graduate high school I would like to go to The Ohio State University,have a full sports scholarship in volleyball and get a degree in marine biology. I would like to work to save and discover some of the ocean’s new or existing species and also do what I love to play.

Tyler Dawson

My name is Tyler Dawson and I am in 9th grade at Logan High School. This is my first year in journalism. I chose journalism because I heard about it from a couple friends and wanted to try something different. I am a member of Logan High School’s class of 2023. I am the sports editor. In my free time, I like to hangout with friends and play football. My main goal is to graduate high school, go to college, get a degree, and get my real estate license.

Michael Kienzle

Hello, my name is Michael Kienzle. I enjoy gaming, gaming, and more gaming. My grammar is off the charts, mostly because of how much PC games I play. Throwing disses at people who beat me online means I have to type quickly. That lead to expert level grammar and fast typing. I can get assignments involving a keyboard done extremely fast with no effort at all, and still get a good grade. I joined journalism because I wanted people to know what’s going on in the world and in school.

Meegan McWilliams

Hi I’m Meegan McWilliams and this is my first year in journalism. I spend my free time reading, hanging out with friends, and watching Netflix. I joined journalism because I have a love for writing and thought that it would help me make some new friends. I hope to go to college to get a a degree to become an English professor.

Briana Saving

I am Briana Saving, and I am a member of the class of 2023. This will be my second year writing for the newspaper. I like to play soccer, go hiking, and ride four wheelers in my free time. I joined journalism because I enjoy writing and the experience of meeting others in journalism . After high school, I plan to go to college and get my degree.

Cherokee Scott

I am a member of Logan High School’s class of 2020. I am a photographer for the newspaper. I spend my free time writing poetry, drawing, watching netflix, listening to/playing music, spending time with my three best friends, and eating lots of food. I joined journalism because I have been writing for awhile and decided to take the class my Senior year so that I could get new ideas of what I should and shouldn’t do. My plan for the future is to further my education and go to college to become an auto mechanic or take medical assistance and hopefully take the step of moving forward to somewhere other than Logan, Ohio and starting fresh.

Kaitlin Steinmetz

My name is Kaitlin Steinmetz. I’m a Freshman at Logan High School, and this is my first year in Journalism. I spend most of my time reading books about criminal investigation, watching True Crime documentaries or shows, juggling all nine of my siblings, and writing stories. I joined Journalism this year to be a part of a community that helps others and informs them of the things they need to know. I intend to join Tri-County and take the police and law enforcement course. I am interested in taking Forensics in my Sophomore year. I want to become a Homicide Detective or an FBI Agent after going to college to major in criminal justice and a minor in creative writing.

Sandy Stevens

Hello, my name is Sandy Stevens. I am a freshman in the class of 2023. This is my second year of Journalism. I spend my time doing schoolwork, cheerleading, and hanging out with friends. I joined Journalism last year because I have always loved writing and English is my favorite subject. I don’t know for sure what I want to do, but I know I want to go to college and I can’t wait to learn and get better at writing.

Lillian Taylor

Hey- I’m Lillian Taylor. I’m really awkward and rarely talk, if you see me in the hallway I basically avoid eye contact at all times like it’s the plaque. I draw a lot, and write a lot. I read too, which I don’t know what to say, I’m not confident that much but I like talking about things that I know about, like video games, horror movies (specifically IT), and other things. I’m really weird.

McKenzie Tracey

My name is Mckenzie Tracey, and I am a student at Logan High School. I joined journalism because I am interested in literature and I love to write. I’ve attended Logan High School for almost 2 years, but this is my first year in journalism. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with friends or reading. This year’s staff seems like a lot of fun, and I’m excited to see what this year will bring.

Mandi Triplett

I’m Mandi Triplett and this is my first year in journalism at the high school. I took it my 8th grade year. I’m a freshman this year and I love dogs. The reason I’m in journalism is because I love to write, and writing with friends is always fun. I’ve ran track for two years, this year will be my third. I run hurdles, 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash.
